Who is Responsible?

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order applies to all non-domestic buildings in the UK. Put simply, all building owners, landlords, employers and head teachers are responsible for fire safety; with a duty to ensure that all fire doors have the correct hardware fitted and are properly maintained.

If hinges collapse, a door closer weakens or a latch wears badly, it’s unlikely that the door will maintain its critical self-closing function. This could result in fatal consequences. Non-compliance can result in heavy fines or even imprisonment, even if it hasn’t led to an injury.

Essential Ironmongery

This refers to hinges, closers, locks, latches and panic hardware. These items ensure that the door leaf stays closed within its frame in a fire emergency. All items should be CE marked, along with third party certification, such as Certifire.

On July the 1st 2013, the Construction Products Regulation will come into full force. This means that the CE marking becomes mandatory.

With a huge range of fully certified and compatible products for fire doors, we can save you time sourcing the correct fittings. All of our ironmongery is covered by a minimum 5 year guarantee, giving you quality assurance and peace of mind.
